Bar Mitzvah – a Jewish boy becomes a bar mitzvah when he turns 13. As a bar mitzvah he becomes responsible for the commandments of the Torah
Bat Mitzvah – when a Jewish girl reaches the age of 12 or 13. As a bat mitzvah she becomes responsible for the commandments of the Torah. This celebration is only for reformed Jews because the Orthodox Jews do not have females read from the Torah.

Brit Bat – Covenant of the daughter. A welcoming ceremony for newborn girls.
Brit Milah – A covenant of Circumcision; Healthy Jewish boys are circumcised on the 8th day after birth
(Ill boys will not be circumcised until he is well); Circumcision is the removing of the four skin, the flap of skin at the end of the penis. A Mohel who is specially trained does this procedure; the baby boy usually receives his name at the ceremony; Baby Girls are given their names on the Sabbath following their birth.
